Family Office Costs, Reporting & Administration — Market Data
Family offices keep growing in number, size, and appetite for direct deals — and the reporting burden grows with them. An office that once tracked a portfolio now tracks operating businesses, co-investments, entities across jurisdictions, and a next generation with its own reporting expectations. Cost follows complexity, and complexity is the trend that never reverses.
The figures below come from the surveys the sector itself quotes: Deloitte's census of single family offices, UBS's annual global report, Citi's survey, and the older UBS/Campden cost tables that remain the only public basis-point breakdown of what offices actually spend. Where the cost data is old, this page says so plainly rather than dressing it up as current.

Methodology
Included: Deloitte's 2024 census counts and projections, UBS 2025 and Citi 2025 survey samples, FOX 2025 benchmarking, and the UBS/Campden cost tables (2013 and 2017). Excluded: vendor pricing for reporting software, which is quote-based and unpublished, and any 'average family office cost in dollars' — basis points are the published unit, and converting them without an office's asset base would invent a figure. The cost basis-point figures are dated (2013/2017) and are labelled as such; they are the latest public breakdowns found this session.
Trend labels: “Baseline (October 2026) — trend tracking starts with the next refresh” means no prior-period figure from the same source was available this session, so no movement is claimed. Where a prior figure is shown, the trend compares the current figure with that prior figure from the same source.
